Blistercare is a pouch packaging center from the north of Germany with a long tradition. They use an automated storage system for their special tray system with direct transport into the clean room. Jan Siebert, head of operations at Blistercare, explains the advantages of their workflow.

The automated storage system is our warehouse for the special tray systems. It contains all the goods that have to be added to the pouch orders via the trays and is not stored in canisters. We combine a classic “pharmacy robot” with our software to pre-sort the medications for each pouch order. In my opinion, this solution is the best on the market for getting pharmaceuticals outside the cleanroom quickly and safely to make them available for production.

We use airlock technology to integrate the storage directly into the cleanroom. This airlock quickly delivers the medicines directly from the storage robot to the clean room for special orders, makeovers or reworks to be available immediately.

Without the automated storage system, we had to manually prepare all medications for an order for production. Now the robot does this job and, if necessary, even directly into the clean room.
